Your Community Connector-Social Media Workshops

Social Media Classes

Hosted by Your Community Connector

If you want to know how to get started on Facebook or Twitter, need a fan page, or if you already have a presence but you know you have a lot of room for improvement; we have the classes set up to help you. They are designed for the small business person who wants to be smart with their time as they explore this form of networking and marketing. We are lucky to have an experienced teacher and consultant join us to teach this series. Scott Hepburn is a veteran PR and marketing professional. He specializes in marketing, PR, advertising, journalism and social media.

Special Offer
Because we feel strongly that all of us need the best information and tools to get the word out about our community (and get it out effectively and cheaply), we are going to offer all participants of this class a special offer. We will take the fee from one class ($20) and apply it towards the purchase price of your 2010 renewal or new package purchase. That means the class is essentially free if you were planning on joining the community or remaining a member. Consider it a benefit of membership!

The individual classes will cost $20/each. The combination class will cost $30. RSVPs will be required to ensure we have enough space. A minimum of 10 people is required to hold the class. Please click the links below the classes to RSVP and pay for the class. If you do not wish to pay online, then just register for the class online and please bring payment with you to the class.

Other Social Media Tools: Blogs, YouTube, Bookmarking, and More

The social web is bigger than Facebook and Twitter. It’s about tools that make it simple for you to share your message with the world. It’s about interacting directly with your target audience. It’s about being part of a community and finding people who need your service.

In this session, we’ll discuss the other tools of social media, including blogging, photo/video sites like YouTube, social bookmarking and more. You’ll learn about:
  • Becoming part of a community of blog readers and authors
  • Why listening first is so important
  • Whether blogging is right for you
  • How other social media tools can enhance your social media strategy

Social Media for Business: It’s Really About the People

You’ve learned about Facebook and Twitter. You’re considering a blog. Now learn why being a “social business” means more than using all the tools.

In this session, you’ll learn how to create a social media gameplan. We’ll discuss when selling is appropriate and when it’s not, as well as how to influence people online.

We’ll cover the following topics:
  • Quick recap of tools we’ve discussed
  • Social media: Beyond the tools
  • Principles to guide you
  • Provide something of value
  • Skip the self-promotion
  • Be intensely focused on others
  • Give a little to get a lot
  • Remove anything that slows a customer down
  • You’ve mastered the basics – now, what’s your strategy?
  • Defining success
  • Staying motivated over the long haul

Facebook for Your Business

Facebook offers powerful tools to spread the word about your company and engage your customers in compelling new ways.

In this session, you’ll learn how to create a Facebook Page for your business. You’ll come away with tips and tricks to grow your audience and connect in ways you never thought possible.

We’ll answer your most pressing questions, such as:
  • Why do I need a Facebook Page
  • How do I gain more Facebook Fans?
  • How do I get my audience to spread the word for me?
  • What is good content?
  • How do I convert fans into customers?
  • I have fans…now what?
